Our Treatment Philosophy
At Fit To Manage (FTM), we take a personalised approach to rehabilitation, focusing on the individual as a whole—not just their injury. We understand that injuries often stem from deeper issues such as chronic movement patterns, rather than isolated events. That’s why we go beyond treating the symptoms to uncover and address the root causes.
Many injuries are the result of long-term movement imbalances, which can also delay recovery if left uncorrected. Our philosophy is to look at the bigger picture – why the injury happened and what might be preventing healing. By focusing on both acute and chronic factors, we create tailored treatment plans designed for lasting results.
A key part of our approach is our internationally patented movement technologies. These innovative tools target neuromuscular imbalances and importantly teach individuals how correct movement patterns should feel. This hands-on understanding empowers clients to take control of their recovery, making the process not only effective but also motivating. We believe that when you feel in control, you stay engaged and maintain a positive outlook – which is essential for a successful recovery and has the capacity to improve all aspects of ones physical life.
Understand the person first, treat the injury second.
“This very personalised approach underlines everything we do”.
This belief drives everything we do. At FTM, we’re committed to delivering the highest standard of care, ensuring each client feels supported every step of the way. Our goal is not to be the largest provider, but the most trusted partner in your recovery journey.
Common examples that illustrate FTM philosophy.
Lower back injuries – the very large majority of people with lower back pain have a limited ROM in their lower limbs. FTM has been successfully treating people with lower back pain (sciatica) or recovering from lower back surgery for 25 years. By far the largest contributing factor to these people recovering is achieved by addressing their lower limb ROM.

Who we are
Fit To Manage (FTM) is owned by Stuart Andrews and Bronwyn Thompson and has been in operation in Canberra since 1999. Both have represented Australia at Commonwealth and Olympic levels in their respective sports of track & field, bobsleigh and rowing. Through this they gained a broad knowledge of functional human movement. They founded FTM to offer clients an individually tailored rehabilitation approach in a relaxed and inclusive environment.
What we provide
Whether you’re a private client, someone with work-related injuries or have been involved in a motor vehicle accident, we can develop a comprehensive rehabilitation program for you. FTM offers you a unique blend of practical knowledge and experience combined with ground-breaking technological developments. With this approach we’ve helped thousands of people recover from a range of neuromuscular/musculoskeletal injuries. These injuries range from occupational overuse conditions associated with a sedentary lifestyle, to injuries sustained from manual handling occupations and sports-related injuries.

Our difference
At FTM, our treatment philosophy is: “Understand the person first, treat the injury second”.
This very personal approach underlines everything we do – we want to be the best service provider not the biggest.
Because successful rehabilitation and future injury prevention is our primary goal, our programs are individually tailored and self-paced. We are culturally diverse in our treatment approach – we see many members of the community with diverse religious and cultural beliefs.
